Old time user since the first version returning to the forums to post this since I hadn't seen it posted before. Sorry if it has been, but it should have been stickied since it is a recurring problem.
Problem: Metallic sounding audio and/or mix knob not controlling chat/game sound properly.
Solution: Check to make sure your console or pc is sending only chat audio to the mixamp via USB.
